The “For Dummies” series has moved far from its humble beginnings as an auto repair manual in the late 1970s. This latest hefty offering suffers from trying to be too many things to too many readers. Certainly, the introductory chapters are clear and concise, with enough information to get the beginner started. This Dummy is Learning Something!
I thought twice about buying this book, but after a few lessons, I feel really confident I can learn to play the guitar with it. Great buy!

Great first guitar book
I started learning to play the guitar and bought several guitar books (Rock Guitar for Dummies, several others) and found they assumed I had some level of knowledge.

Great resource for all levels
This is a great product, no matter what skill level you are at. I have been playing guitar (very casually) for most of my life, and I have learned much from this book.

Outstanding
I’m not much of a book person but this one keeps my attention quite well. You go over everything and get a few chord charts as well.

Guitar Basics
I thought the book was great but the CD was a little hard to listen to. It was hard to play with the CD because the background music was too over powering.

I purchased this book for my 15 yr old nephew; he thought it was a joke. He had not heard of the “Dummies” books. He started to look through it and thought it was really cool.

Good Buy
This is a good book for guitar players who have some knowledge of the instrument. Even if it starts with the basics it is a good idea to know the basics before you buy this book…
